CfP: Moving in a divided world - Transnational crime, national borders and irregular migration

Deadline: 3 October, 2021

Reports about global criminal networks taking over clandestine routes have stoked fears about irregular migration becoming a breeding ground for transnational crime, such as human trafficking, human smuggling, and drug trafficking.

Research on the topic has mushroomed over the last decade, but the actual interaction between these crimes and irregular migration remains under-explored and under-theorised. The workshop – Moving in a divided world: Transnational crime, national borders and irregular migration – aims to explore the existing or alleged interaction between irregular migration and phenomena that loosely fall under the category of transnational crime, such as human trafficking, human smuggling, and drug trafficking. The event is organized by the Bielefeld University and scheduled to take place at Bielefeld in Germany, on 11 July—13 July 2022.
