Announcement 18th IMISCOE Annual Conference

Event: 7 - 9 July - 2021 - online

Dear IMISCOE-Members

We hope that you are all doing well.

I am sorry to have to inform you that this year’s IMISCOE Conference will need to go online again. We were hoping to welcome many of you all to a hybrid conference in Luxembourg. Until recently, our conference planning focused on a mixed inclusive and sustainable conference format: for those of you who would have joined f2f, we would have offered free childcare and local sustainable meals while also making it easier for participants from afar to join online. We were working closely with our health and safety department to develop a safe conference concept in order to save the hybrid conference format. However, given the slow vaccine roll out and the new virus mutations, there is still too much uncertainty and we could not guarantee a safe conference for all.

We are now focusing our energies on creating an engaging online conference together with the IMISCOE Network Office. Technology has made huge leaps in the past year and we hope that we can give you the most interactive and stimulating experience to make this an enjoyable and online conference. The conference might have a different format, but we will do our best to make sure that it remains just as inclusive and sustainable. The planning is still ongoing; please contact us in case you have any questions or ideas for us.

I am glad to be able to give you some conference-information to look forward to.

Keynote speakers - semi panels

Our two keynote speakers will be Jaan Valsiner (Aalborg University) and
Mulki Al-Sharmani (University of Helsinki).

Our three semi-panels will be given by:

  • Dudziro Nhengu (Africa University)
  • Marco Martiniello (University of Liège) and Wiebke Sievers (Austrian Academy of Sciences)
  • Francio Guadeloupe (University of Amsterdam)

As the conference planning progresses, you will find more information on the following websites:

https://www.imiscoe.org/events/imiscoe-events/925-18th-imiscoe-annual-conference-luxembourg-july-7-9-2021 and  https://imiscoe2021.uni.lu/

Everyone who submitted their work will be notified of the results no later than this week. The conference dates, July 7 to 9, 2021, will not change and conference registration will open soon.

Looking forward to welcoming you all from Luxembourg,

Birte Nienaber
