Welcome to the IMISCOE Bulletin third issue
As we look back at this first year of the IMISCOE Bulletin we are proud of this project thus far and we are looking forward to expand it for our readers.
This new platform of communication had been in the vision as early as 2019 and came to life in the April of 2020. The pandemic has unfortunately been the background environment to this first year, but we are confident we are learning more and more to operate within this hopefully temporary setting. This platform will continue to strive into circulating knowledge from the IMISCOE Network.
This third issue is once again filled with many stimulating inputs and great guests!
We start with an insightful Editorial written by Andrew Geddes, Professor and Director of the MPC, European University Institute, on the latest EU Migration and Asylum pact.
Our Spotlight is dedicated to the BaM project, ‘Becoming a Minority’, written by Elif Keskiner (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Frans Lelie (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) on behalf of the team.
The Interview section is as lively as ever! First we have our PhD network Virtual coffee conducted by Marina Lazëri (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)) with Giulia Mezzetti (ISMU), postdoc and former PhD network representative, on how to cope and learn from Covid related disruptions. And that’s not it! Our “Chat with” features Marlou Schrover, full time professor in Economic and Social History at Leiden University and long-time IMISCOE member.
And as usual, our Vitrine is filled with up and running projects from all over the Network which showcases our frequency of activity!
Finally, we have a little surprise. Warda Belabes (EUR), the legendary Network Officer of IMISCOE will no longer work with us as such. She moved on and wrote us a nice message. It’s not a definitive “goodbye” but rather a “see you later” in a different position. Here at IMISCOE we wish her the best of luck with her future career developments and we are sure we will see her along the way again!
We wish you a fun and entertaining read and will see you again in 2021!!!
